Racing Santander has announced the signing of Sergio Canales, who will sign until June 30, 2028.

What has happened?

The Santander midfielder, trained at the Nando Yosu facilities, returns home 16 years later with a wealth of experience, including 384 games in La Liga, over 40 in European competitions, 48 in the Copa del Rey, almost a hundred in the top division of Mexico, and 11 with the Spanish national team.

Why is it important for Racing Santander?

Sergio Canales was born in the capital of Cantabria on February 16, 1991, and was trained in the Racing youth academy, where he rose through the ranks until making his debut —at 17 years old— with the first team in the UEFA Cup against FC Honka at the Campos de Sport on September 18, 2008.

What comes next?

He played 39 games with the Cantabrian shirt, scoring seven goals and providing six assists. In 2010, he was transferred to Real Madrid and later played for Valencia CF, Real Sociedad, and Betis, with which he won the Copa del Rey —a title he also won with the white club—.
