Manchester United Join Barcelona in Race for Young Talent
Manchester United have recently joined the competition with Barcelona to sign 19-year-old left-back Jorge Salinas from Racing Santander. If Manchester United fail to secure Lewis Hall, they are prepared to trigger Salinas' €16 million release clause and bring him in. The young player would then compete with Luke Shaw for a starting spot on the left flank. However, Barcelona's main obstacle remains the €16 million release clause; the club is only willing to offer €6 million and include some promising players from La Masia as part of the deal. Racing Santander, however, insists on receiving the full amount in cash.
Despite this financial hurdle, Barcelona still hope to reach a deal with Racing before other clubs make their move. Losing Salinas would not be catastrophic for Barça, especially since they see him as a future project similar to recent signing Jesse Bisiwu.
